Professor Stephen Grano
Stephen is a stakeholder-focused, research leader who enjoys connecting high level research capability to address critically important global sustainability challenges, but which have local, operational impact. Particular areas of focus are mineral exploration under deep cover, deep mining, complex processing, unconventional hydrocarbon resources, and aspects of energy technology.
Stephen’s main roles, as the Executive Director of the Institute for Mineral & Energy Resources, are to build inter-disciplinary project teams, make strategic investments into capability, and to engage with industry and government stakeholders. Stephen is a Metallurgical Engineer by training with about 30 years of postgraduate experience and he has worked in the minerals industry for Mount Isa Mines.
